Powering Up/Down Fanuc Robots

Powering Up/Down Fanuc Robots include a number of ways. They are:

  • Cold Start: Implements changes to system variables and IO setup.
  • Cycle Power from the Teach Pendant: Reboot the robot while it is already powered on.
  • Cycle Power from the Robot Controller disconnect: Reboot the robot from the control panel.
  • Controlled Start: Set up and save application information. Installation of options and updates. Print Teach Pendant screens. Start KCL. Simulate IO.
  • Hot Start: Allows a restart of the controller during production if an error occurs that puts the robot back into the condition it was previously in.  Turns on robot power without Boot Monitor.
  • Powering Down: Removes power from the servo motors and applies the brakes.

COLD START

  1. Turn on the Robot Controller disconnect
  2. Wait for Teach Pendant home screen that looks like this:

CYCLE POWER USING TEACH PENDANT

  1. Press Function
  2. Press 0 (Next)
  3. Select 8 (Cycle Power)
  4. Select Cold, then Yes
  5. If the function does not exist, move on to the next section.

CYCLE POWER USING THE ROBOT CONTROLLER DISCONNECT

  1. Rotate the disconnect off
  2. Wait 10 seconds
  3. Rotate the disconnect back on

CONTROLLED START (with the Robot Controller On)

  1. Press Function
  2. Press 0 (Next)
  3. Select 8 (Cycle Power)
  4. Select CNTRL
  5. Select Yes

CONTROLLED START (with the Robot Controller Off)

  1. Press and Hold PREV and NEXT keys
  2. Power on the Robot Controller
  3. From the startup menu, select Controlled Start

HOT START

  1. Press Menu
  2. Press System
  3. Press Config
  4. Change Setup Hot Start to True
  5. Cycle power of the Robot Controller

POWER DOWN

  1. Rotate the disconnect off
